Collusion is delighted to bring ART // TECH // PLAY LIVE back to Anglia Ruskin University for an evening exploring how creative technology can support and reflect community wellbeing.
This edition shines a light on artists whose projects use digital tools in imaginative ways to examine and nurture both the emotional and physical health of communities. From thought-provoking artworks to experimental processes, the talks will open up new perspectives on how technology can help us connect, care, and thrive together.
Guest speakers:
Wesley Goatley is a critical artist and researcher based in London, UK. His work critically interrogates the relations between the AI industry, the climate crisis, and the social impacts of digital technology. He has been pursuing this in his practice through low-carbon computing, digital recycling, permacomputing, and critical AI practices.
Anna Brownsted is an artist working with images, objects, places and people. She will be joined by her collaborators Professor of Architecture and Environmental Policy Minna Sunikka-Blank (University of Cambridge) and Professor of Cognition and Cognitive Neuroscience David Pearson (ARU) to share and discuss a preview of their film Survey, which uses walking as a research method and wearable technology as a means of capturing personal moments and involuntary responses within an unpredictable urban green space.
James W. Norton is a visual artist and founder of na/films. He creates art, film, sound, and installation in places undergoing ecological and cultural change, exploring the entanglement of humans, technology, and the natural world. His recent projects with Natural England, Abbey Ward, Cambridge University, and the Untold Stories initiative examine how communities can co-shape futures and respond to the long shadow of the Anthropocene. He is an Associate Lecturer at ARU and the RCA.
Alongside the artist presentations, you can expect an interactive demo of gaze tracking glasses which monitor and analyse where a person is looking, a showcase of work by ARU MA students, and plenty of time for conversations.
Tickets are pay what you feel, £10 suggested. We can’t wait to see you there!
This event is part of Collusion’s ART // TECH // PLAY programme and network that supports artists and creatives to develop their skills around creative technologies in a practice-led way.
