We invite you to take part in a unique, interactive experience that brings the hidden and imagined LGBTQ+ histories of King’s Lynn to life. Using augmented reality technology, this trail leads you along the King’s Lynn Pride route through town to seven key locations where you’ll meet characters, imagined and real, inspired by local heritage. As you explore, you’ll collect digital Pride Tokens — each one celebrating a moment, identity, or milestone that shines a light on the town’s LGBTQ+ past and present.
You will be guided by an old friend of Collusion, Vinegar Tom, who some of you may remember from Kinema of Dreams!
But this is more than just a game. It’s a celebration of youth creativity and collaboration.
Alongside the trail, visit an exhibition that reveals the making of the project – from the first sparks of research to the final digital designs. Developed with local young creatives from our FUSE programme ages 16-30, this behind-the-scenes look showcases how imagination, history, and technology came together to create a new kind of storytelling experience for King’s Lynn.
Whether you’re a resident, a visitor, or just curious, come and experience the Pride of King’s Lynn – in the streets, on your screen, and in the stories we share.
Walking with Pride is part of Historic England’s History in the Making programme and the fourth in our annual WE ARE LYNN series of projects, which engages the young people of King’s Lynn as co-creators in the development of new public artworks that explore their identities through interactivity, light, sound and projection.
Although King’s Lynn is rich in heritage, LGBTQ+ lives are largely missing from the historical record. This project changes that by uncovering lives and experiences that have been long overlooked.
Director and Co-founder, Rachel Drury adds “Our WE ARE LYNN projects aim to empower the young people of King’s Lynn to feel connected to their town, and support their self-expression and well-being. We want to help amplify these young creative voices and share their creativity in a way that engages the wider community in their extraordinary take on the LGBTQ+ stories in King’s Lynn”.
FUSE meets monthly and is free to attend, if you are aged 16-30 and would like to join, sign up here.
